A bill has been introduced in the Oklahoma State Senate that, if enacted, would require public and charter school teachers who teach evolution to also “provide instruction to students on the concepts of creationism and/or intelligent design.”

Senate Bill 1868 was introduced on January 15, 2026, by David Bullard (Republican, District 6), who introduced similar bills in 2024, 2021, and 2019, none of which made it out of the Senate Committee on Education.

On March 5, 2026, the bill died in the Education Committee when a deadline for Senate measures to pass out of committee expired.
