CDC Removes Webpages on Health Equity and LGBTQ+ Care

Action Date: 09/20/2025

Explanation: Government Censorship
Scientists Affected: Public Health
Agency(s):
Federal → HHS
Presidential Administration: Trump Administration (Second)

As of September 20, 2025, at least 22 webpages were taken down from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website. The webpages were on topics related to LGBTQ+ health care, health equity, and related educational resources. News reports indicate the CDC was instructed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to remove certain webpages by September 19. The HHS directive reportedly did not provide the CDC with reasoning for why it was being asked to pull down those webpages, but the topics covered are largely aligned with issues targeted in a series of executive actions by President Trump to roll back federal initiatives on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
